Guwahati Police on Tuesday said it has made further progress in the Panjabari ATM battery theft case with the arrest of two more accused and the recovery of stolen materials.
According to the police, a team from Satgaon Police Station carried out follow-up operations and apprehended Momir Ali (45) and Abdul Malek (47), both residents of Hajo. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into the theft of ATM batteries reported from the Panjabari area.
Acting on leads provided by the accused, the police conducted a raid at a dumpyard located on RK Mission Road in Birubari. During the operation, officers recovered eight stolen ATM batteries along with brass metal items and electrical wires.
Police said legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals, and further investigation is underway to trace other links connected to the theft racket.
