Guwahati: EMRI Green Health Services announced rapid progress in restoring the 108 Mrityunjoy Emergency Ambulance services across Assam, stating that operations are expected to return to full capacity by Saturday. As of 3 pm today, approximately 750 ambulances were reported to be active throughout the state.<\/p>\n
The organization said that aggressive recruitment measures undertaken in recent days have played a key role in the accelerated restoration of services. More than 800 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), pilots, and Emergency Response Officers (EROs) have already been officially added to the company\u2019s workforce, with hiring still ongoing on an urgent basis.<\/p>\n
To further stabilize operations, nearly 800 temporary drivers have been deployed, while district administrations stepped in by assigning between 560 and 600 additional drivers and ANM nurses to support ambulance services in the field.<\/p>\n
With drivers now allotted to all 800 ambulances in the fleet, EMRI confirmed that the service is currently running without interruption. However, it acknowledged that only about half of the ambulances presently have EMTs and nurses onboard. The remaining medical personnel are expected to be deployed shortly as recruitment continues.<\/p>\n
Despite the staffing gap, EMRI stated that patient transportation\u2014including home-to-hospital and inter-hospital transfers\u2014has not been affected. Available medical staff have continued attending to patients during transit to ensure safe care delivery.<\/p>\n
The organization expressed confidence that the remaining manpower shortfall would be addressed within the next few days, enabling complete restoration of the emergency network.<\/p>\n
Reiterating its commitment to public safety, EMRI said it is following every directive issued by the Government of Assam and ensuring that no citizen is denied emergency medical response during the ongoing situation. It also thanked both the government and the public for their cooperation and patience during the transition.<\/p>\n
In its statement, EMRI clarified that the large-scale recruitment drive was initiated exclusively to protect public health and maintain uninterrupted ambulance operations. The organization also issued a cautionary message to staff currently on strike, noting that opportunities to rejoin the workforce may diminish as new appointments are finalized.
