Guwahati Police have achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing crackdown on fake currency networks with the arrest of a youth involved in dealing Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN).<\/p>\n
According to an official update shared by Guwahati Police on social media platform X, a team from the City Police Guwahati Division (CPGD) of Paltanbazar Police Station carried out a raid at Ulubari based on specific intelligence inputs. During the operation, the police apprehended Asib Alom (23), a resident of Laluk in Lakhimpur district, who had reportedly come to Guwahati to deal in fake currency.<\/p>\n
During the search, police recovered \u20b9500 denomination fake Indian currency notes with a total face value of \u20b96,80,500. In addition to the counterfeit notes, the team also seized one iPhone mobile handset and \u20b9620 in cash from the possession of the accused.<\/p>\n
Police officials stated that the arrest was made after sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering, indicating the involvement of the accused in circulation of counterfeit currency. The seizure of high-value fake notes points towards a possible larger network operating beyond Guwahati.<\/p>\n
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the fake currency and identify other individuals linked to the racket.<\/p>\n
