With the Assam Assembly elections approaching, the United People\u2019s Party Liberal (UPPL) on Thursday released its election manifesto at the party\u2019s central office in Kokrajhar.<\/p>\n
The manifesto was unveiled by party president Pramod Boro in the presence of senior leaders, including Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Members of Parliament Rwngwra Narzary and Joyanta Basumatary, along with party workers.<\/p>\n
Presenting the vision document, Boro outlined a comprehensive roadmap centred on peace, governance, social justice, and inclusive development across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He stressed the importance of maintaining peace and harmony through dialogue and participatory governance, including the formation of peace committees at the subdivision level.<\/p>\n
A major focus of the manifesto is the full implementation of the BTR Peace Accord 2020. The party also pledged to push for the 125th Constitutional Amendment, strengthen institutional frameworks, increase the number of MCLA constituencies, and ensure direct funding from the Centre.<\/p>\n
Highlighting cultural preservation, UPPL proposed initiatives such as the development of a Bodoland Community Museum and ethnographic projects representing 26 communities. It also promised land rights for eligible families, support for religious institutions, and the construction of Bhawans and memorials. The party further advocated for the inclusion of regional languages like Rabha, Koch-Rajbongshi, and Santali as mediums of instruction.<\/p>\n
In the education sector, the manifesto outlined plans for scholarships, establishment of higher educational institutions, and creation of digital learning hubs. The party also committed to improving healthcare infrastructure, ensuring adequate staffing in hospitals, and introducing welfare schemes for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n
Focusing on youth empowerment, UPPL proposed launching sports leagues, skill development programmes linked to employment, and fellowship opportunities. It also emphasised entrepreneurship promotion, support for women-led self-help groups, and expansion of self-employment avenues.<\/p>\n
Infrastructure development remains a key priority, with proposals for roads, bridges, irrigation systems, and industrial parks. The party also aims to boost eco-tourism while ensuring the conservation of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, along with measures to address human-elephant conflict.<\/p>\n
In agriculture, UPPL pledged to double farmers\u2019 income, improve irrigation facilities, and enhance access to modern farming technologies. The manifesto also highlights strengthening farmer support systems through better market access, crop insurance, and financial assistance schemes.<\/p>\n
