Champhai, April 25:<\/strong> In a major operation against drug trafficking in the Northeast, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with Champhai Police, recovered a significant quantity of heroin and apprehended one individual in Mizoram\u2019s Champhai district.<\/p>\n

According to an official statement shared by the Assam Rifles on X, the joint operation was conducted in the general area of Zote in Champhai district on April 23, 2026, based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotics in the region.<\/p>\n

During the operation, security personnel recovered 35.83 grams of Heroin No. 4, a highly potent and illegal narcotic substance. Officials stated that the seized contraband has an estimated market value of approximately \u20b926.87 lakh in the illegal drug market.<\/p>\n

One individual suspected to be linked with the drug trafficking network was apprehended during the operation. However, authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the accused.<\/p>\n

Following the seizure, the recovered narcotics along with the apprehended individual were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, Mizoram for further investigation and legal proceedings.<\/p>\n

Officials said the operation reflects the continued efforts of security agencies to combat the growing drug menace in the northeastern region, particularly along border areas often used by traffickers for smuggling narcotics.<\/p>\n

The Assam Rifles has been actively conducting intelligence-based operations in coordination with state police and other law enforcement agencies to dismantle drug trafficking networks and prevent the circulation of illegal substances in the region.<\/p>\n
