BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday expressed deep gratitude to the people of Assam after taking oath as the Chief Minister of the state for a second consecutive term. Calling the occasion \u201can extremely emotional moment,\u201d Sarma said the NDA government would continue working towards the dream of a \u201cViksit Assam.\u201d<\/p>\n
Taking to X shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Sarma wrote, \u201cWith all humility I bow down to the people of Assam,\u201d while thanking the citizens of the state for giving the BJP-led NDA another massive mandate in the Assembly elections.<\/p>\n
Sarma also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for guiding the government through his vision and leadership. He said Modi\u2019s \u201cmargdarshan\u201d had been the biggest motivating factor behind the government\u2019s work and commitment towards \u201cSewa and Samarpan.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister further expressed gratitude to BJP national president Nitin Nabin for energising NDA workers across Assam and helping carry the message of the government\u2019s achievements to every household during the election campaign.<\/p>\n
Sarma also thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah, describing him as a strong pillar of support in the government\u2019s efforts to restore peace and prosperity in Assam and fulfil promises made to the people.<\/p>\n
In his message, the Assam Chief Minister acknowledged the contribution of BJP and NDA workers across the state, saying their hard work and dedication played a major role in securing the alliance\u2019s historic victory.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sarma at a grand ceremony held at the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara, Guwahati. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and several senior NDA leaders.<\/p>\n
Along with Sarma, former Union minister Rameswar Teli, AGP president Atul Bora, BPF MLA Charan Boro and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog were sworn in as ministers in the new Council of Ministers.<\/p>\n
The BJP-led NDA returned to power in Assam for a third consecutive term after securing a landslide victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections. The alliance won 102 seats in the 126-member Assembly, including 82 seats secured by the BJP alone.<\/p>\n
