{"id":3706,"date":"2026-06-06T12:02:42","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T06:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/assamtalks.com\/en\/?p=3706"},"modified":"2026-06-06T12:02:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T06:32:42","slug":"assam-cabinet-approves-state-capital-region-development-authority-for-dibrugarh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/assamtalks.com\/en\/assam-cabinet-approves-state-capital-region-development-authority-for-dibrugarh\/","title":{"rendered":"Assam Cabinet Approves State Capital Region, Development Authority for Dibrugarh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DIBRUGARH, June 6: The Assam Cabinet has approved the creation of a State Capital Region (SCR) in Dibrugarh and the establishment of a dedicated development authority to oversee the planned expansion of the state&#8217;s second capital.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was taken during the first Cabinet meeting held after the expansion of the Council of Ministers led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.<\/p>\n<p>As per the Cabinet&#8217;s approval, the proposed State Capital Region will cover areas within a 20-kilometre radius of the Dibrugarh Capital Complex. To manage and regulate development in the region, the government has approved the formation of the State Capital Region Development Authority, Dibrugarh (SCRDA-D).<\/p>\n<p>The authority will be responsible for preparing regional and sectoral development plans, identifying growth corridors and guiding future urban expansion in line with Dibrugarh&#8217;s growing role as Assam&#8217;s second capital.<\/p>\n<p>The MLA of Dibrugarh will serve as the ex-officio Chairman of the authority and will enjoy Cabinet rank status.<\/p>\n<p>To accelerate infrastructure development in the region, the state government has earmarked \u20b9500 crore over the next five years.
