New Delhi:<\/strong> In a significant move to restore trust in the country’s examination process, the Central Government has set up an expert task force chaired by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani to recommend comprehensive reforms for India’s examination system. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the initiative on Sunday, emphasising the need for a more transparent, secure and technology-enabled assessment framework.<\/p>\n

Addressing the nation through a video message posted on X, the Prime Minister said the government is determined to protect the interests of students and ensure that future examinations are conducted with greater integrity. He noted that the recommendations of the newly formed committee would guide reforms aimed at strengthening the credibility of upcoming examinations.<\/p>\n

Modi also underlined the government’s crackdown on examination-related malpractice, stating that individuals responsible for paper leaks have been arrested and are facing legal proceedings. He added that fast-track courts have been established to handle such cases swiftly, while Parliament is working towards introducing stricter laws to deter examination fraud.<\/p>\n

The announcement follows months of public outrage over multiple examination paper leak incidents across the country and comes soon after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amid mounting political pressure.<\/p>\n

The high-level committee has been tasked with identifying long-term solutions through both policy and technological interventions. Besides Nilekani, the panel includes former ISRO Chairman S. Somanath, former Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti, former Education Secretary Anita Kaul, and logistics specialist Amrit Lal Meena.<\/p>\n

Nilekani, best known for leading India’s Aadhaar initiative as the founding Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has played a key role in several technology-driven public service projects. He has also been associated with the eGov Foundation and the EkStep Foundation, both of which focus on digital governance and education.<\/p>\n

An IIT Bombay alumnus and Padma Bhushan awardee, Nilekani is expected to spearhead efforts to develop a modern examination system that leverages technology while addressing structural weaknesses that have led to recurring concerns over examination security.<\/p>\n

The Centre has said the panel will submit its recommendations at the earliest, paving the way for reforms intended to improve transparency, strengthen safeguards against malpractice and rebuild confidence among students and educational institutions across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
