Sangma announced the development, saying the new facility is intended to assist people from the state who travel to Mumbai for medical treatment, education, employment, business and official purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed facility is expected to supplement Meghalaya House-I at Vashi, which has limited capacity amid an increasing number of people from Meghalaya travelling to Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p>Sangma thanked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Maharashtra government for their cooperation in facilitating the project.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Meghalaya House-II is being envisioned as more than a residential or guest facility. The state government sees it as an opportunity to showcase Meghalaya&#8217;s cultural and economic identity to people in western India.<\/p>\n<p>The facility could provide a platform to promote Meghalaya&#8217;s music, traditional food, handicrafts, tourism, entrepreneurship and the diverse cultural traditions of its tribal communities, Sangma said.<\/p>\n<p>The project is also expected to strengthen people-to-people connections between Meghalaya and Maharashtra while creating opportunities for greater cultural and economic interaction.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed Meghalaya House-II comes as the state seeks to improve institutional support for its citizens outside Meghalaya, particularly in major cities where residents frequently travel for essential services and professional opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The land handover at Kharghar marks the beginning of a new phase for the project, with the proposed facility expected to serve both as a support centre for Meghalaya&#8217;s citizens and as a platform for greater engagement between the Northeast and western India.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra: Meghalaya has taken a step towards expanding its support network for residents travelling to Mumbai, with land being handed over for the proposed Meghalaya House-II at&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":4162,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"content-type":"","_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[23,19],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4161","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-meghalaya","category-national"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 -
