Work has already commenced at New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Malda Court and Balurghat, while preparations are underway to start installation at Kishanganj, Siliguri and Haldibari.<\/p>\n<p>The parcel cages will serve as designated temporary storage areas for consignments before they are moved, loaded or dispatched. By separating parcel storage from other station activities, the railway expects to bring greater order to the handling process and make better use of station premises.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is also intended to improve the safety of goods during the period between their arrival and onward movement. With parcels kept within designated areas, railway personnel will have a more structured system for monitoring and managing consignments.<\/p>\n<p>NFR said the new facilities are expected to reduce the chances of parcels being misplaced or exposed to damage or theft. The improved arrangements could also make railway parcel services more convenient and dependable for customers.<\/p>\n<p>The installation of these facilities at key stations is part of NFR&#8217;s efforts to improve operational efficiency and upgrade passenger and parcel-related infrastructure.
