A disturbing incident came to light in Bongaigaon on Thursday when the body of a young man was discovered inside a car parked near the Champa river bank in the Bowalimari area. The deceased has been identified as Raju Banik, a resident of Barpeta town.
Locals grew suspicious after noticing the vehicle, bearing registration number AS14H6766, parked in an unusual manner that suggested someone may have attempted to push it into the river.
Speaking to the media, Additional SP of Bongaigaon stated, “It is too early to draw conclusions, but the position of the car indicates that foul play may be involved. Our investigation is ongoing, and the full details will emerge soon.”
Police have launched a probe into the incident to uncover the circumstances surrounding Raju Banik’s death.
