Guwahati Police have arrested four alleged bike lifters and burglars in connection with the theft of SBI ATM batteries at Dakhingaon. The arrests were made by a team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from Basistha Police Station.
The arrested persons have been identified as Manish Choudhury alias Laku (26), Arjun Singh (27), Sanjib Baishya alias Babu (32), and Rafikul Ali (36). Police said the accused were involved in multiple theft cases across different parts of Guwahati.
Based on information provided by the accused, police conducted a search at a scrap dump in Kacharibosti, Ganeshguri, and recovered a large cache of stolen items. The seized materials include two ATM batteries, gas cylinders, copper pipes, drill and cutter machines, brass idols of deities, brass plates and door plates, worship-related items, a water pump, and other brass articles.
Police have initiated legal proceedings in the case, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the theft network and recover additional stolen property.
