Guwahati, June 2: The health condition of the young woman injured in the recent brutal incident in Nalbari has shown signs of improvement, although doctors say she remains under close observation and is not yet fully out of danger. Pro-tem Speaker of the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly, Chandra Mohan Patowary, visited the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to enquire about her condition and meet her family members.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, Patowary said the victim has responded positively to treatment since being shifted from Nalbari Medical College and Hospital to GMCH. He praised the doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff for their prompt medical attention and efforts to ensure the best possible treatment for the patient.
According to Patowary, the young woman is now able to recognize and respond to her father. He said her condition has improved significantly compared to the previous day, and she has shown encouraging signs of recovery. However, medical experts continue to monitor her closely due to the seriousness of her injuries.
The Pro-tem Speaker revealed that the victim’s blood pressure had been critically low and her haemoglobin level had dropped substantially. Doctors have already administered blood transfusions and are continuing intensive treatment to stabilize her condition.
Patowary also conveyed that the victim’s father expressed satisfaction with the treatment being provided at GMCH. He said the government’s immediate concern is to ensure that the young woman receives all necessary medical care and returns home safely after a full recovery.
Referring to an earlier assurance by Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, Patowary reiterated that the Assam government will bear all expenses related to the victim’s treatment. He assured that medicines, medical procedures, and all other required support would be provided without any financial burden on the family.
Commenting on the incident, Patowary said the government remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring justice in serious criminal cases. He noted that the authorities had taken swift action and expressed confidence that the investigation would proceed in accordance with the law.
The incident has drawn widespread attention across Assam, with many demanding stringent action against those responsible. As the investigation continues, public focus remains on the victim’s recovery and the progress of the legal proceedings.
