GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is continuing its efforts to improve urban sanitation through regular inspections and enforcement drives conducted by its Spot Fine Squad. The initiative focuses on preventing civic violations and maintaining cleaner public spaces across the city.
The squad is monitoring violations such as throwing garbage in public areas, improper waste disposal, unauthorised dumping of waste and the use of banned single-use plastic items. The enforcement measures aim to discourage irresponsible practices and encourage residents to comply with municipal cleanliness regulations.
The GMC has also emphasised the importance of public participation in maintaining a hygienic urban environment. Residents are encouraged to dispose of waste responsibly, avoid prohibited plastic products and keep roads and public spaces clean.
The civic body’s initiative seeks to strengthen civic responsibility and support the goal of a cleaner and greener Guwahati. Cooperation from residents, businesses and other members of the community remains essential to improving sanitation and protecting public health.
