In the aftermath of the NDA’s sweeping victory in the recently concluded Assam Legislative Assembly elections, senior leaders of alliance partners Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Wednesday reiterated their commitment to strengthening the alliance and accelerating Assam’s development journey.

The development came after AGP President Atul Bora shared details of a high-level meeting held at the AGP headquarters in Ambari, Guwahati, where senior BJP leaders visited to congratulate newly elected AGP legislators and discuss the roadmap for the alliance’s next term in government.

According to Atul Bora, the people of Assam have shown “unprecedented trust and confidence” in the NDA by delivering a historic mandate in the Assembly elections. He stated that the victory reflects the people’s faith in the leadership and developmental agenda of the alliance.

At the invitation of AGP, Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia visited the AGP state headquarters along with several senior BJP leaders. The delegation included BJP leaders Jayanta Mallabaruah, G. Ravindra Raju, Rituparna Baruah, Ashok Bhattarai, Queen Oja, and Rekharani Das Boro among others.

The BJP delegation received a warm welcome from Atul Bora, AGP Working President Keshab Mahanta, senior party leaders, newly elected MLAs, office bearers, and party workers at the Ambari headquarters.

During the meeting, leaders of both alliance partners reviewed the NDA’s performance in the Assam elections and discussed future strategies for governance and development. Dilip Saikia congratulated Atul Bora on being elected leader of the AGP Legislature Party and also extended congratulations to Keshab Mahanta and all newly elected AGP legislators.

Addressing the gathering, Saikia described the NDA’s victory as historic, noting that the alliance secured 102 out of 126 Assembly seats in Assam. He said the mandate represented the aspirations of the people of Assam and reflected support for development, regional identity, and national progress.

Saikia also praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for leading the NDA campaign successfully across the state. He described Sarma as a hardworking and visionary leader and expressed confidence that the NDA had unanimously chosen the right leader to guide Assam for a third consecutive term.

Highlighting the long-standing relationship between BJP and AGP, Saikia recalled that the alliance has remained intact since 2001 despite occasional differences on smaller issues. He termed the BJP–AGP partnership a “rainbow-like alliance” that symbolises the coming together of national and regional aspirations for Assam’s growth.

Atul Bora, in his statement, reaffirmed AGP’s commitment to supporting the NDA government under Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership. He stated that every AGP worker remains dedicated to becoming a dependable partner in the state’s developmental journey and in transforming Assam into one of the country’s leading states.

The AGP President also thanked the BJP leadership for felicitating the newly elected AGP MLAs and said the gesture further strengthened coordination and mutual trust between the alliance partners.

On the occasion, the AGP also felicitated its newly elected legislators in the presence of senior leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya and veteran leader Phani Bhusan Choudhury.

Leaders from both parties asserted that the NDA government would continue to focus on welfare, infrastructure, economic growth, and safeguarding Assam’s interests in the coming years. They also expressed confidence that the BJP–AGP alliance would emerge stronger and continue to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Assam.
