Guwahati: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police has arrested two persons, identified as Abhishek Kumar Singh, 31, and Ritesh Kumar Singh, 39, from rented residences in the Satgaon area of Guwahati in connection with an alleged espionage case. Police said the arrests are linked to suspected activities involving a Pakistan Intelligence Operative (PIO).
According to the police, Abhishek Kumar Singh was arrested earlier from a rented house in Gandhinagar under Satgaon Police Station, while Ritesh Kumar Singh was subsequently taken into custody during the investigation. Preliminary investigation has allegedly indicated that the two were involved in passing sensitive information concerning security forces to a PIO. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the full extent of the alleged activities and identify any other persons connected to the case.
The investigation reportedly followed intelligence inputs from Gajraj Military Intelligence in Tezpur. During the earlier operation, the STF said it recovered a mobile phone, SIM cards and documents from Abhishek Kumar Singh. The case has been registered as STF Police Station Case No. 09/2026.
The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged Pakistan-linked espionage activities in Assam. Authorities are continuing to examine the suspects’ alleged roles, communications and possible links to others. The allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
