Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has cautioned residents, builders, contractors and construction agencies against dumping construction and demolition (C&D) waste illegally on roads, public spaces, and residential or commercial premises.

In an advisory published on its official X account, the civic body announced that violations would attract a spot fine of ₹2,000. The move highlights the importance of proper construction waste disposal in maintaining cleanliness and public safety across the city.

According to GMC, the unauthorised disposal of construction debris creates obstructions in public spaces, affects the cleanliness of urban areas and can pose risks to public health and safety.

The corporation has appealed to all stakeholders involved in construction and demolition activities to ensure that waste is disposed of responsibly rather than being dumped in unauthorised locations.

GMC has also urged citizens to report instances of civic violations by contacting its helpline at 8811007000.

The advisory reinforces the need for public cooperation in keeping Guwahati clean, safe and free from illegally dumped construction debris.
