Guwahati Police Arrest Four in Theft and Burglary Cases, Recover Stolen Goods

Guwahati: Guwahati Police have arrested four alleged thieves in connection with multiple theft and burglary cases and recovered several stolen items, including an e-rickshaw, during an operation carried out by the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD).

According to Guwahati Police, the arrests were made by a team from Basistha Police Station. The accused have been identified as Kusim Uddin (48) of Hatigaon, Ashraful Islam (25) of Beharbari, Bikash Baishya (25) of Hengerabari and Sumit Das (24) of Lalmati.

During the operation, police recovered four stolen batteries, an LPG cylinder, electrical wires, an e-rickshaw (registration number AS01ER1652) and a plier that investigators believe was used in carrying out the alleged thefts. All the recovered items have been seized as part of the investigation.

Police said the four accused are suspected of being involved in multiple theft and burglary incidents reported in different parts of the city. Further investigation is underway to determine whether they are linked to additional unsolved cases.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused in accordance with the law, Guwahati Police said.

The latest operation is part of the city police’s ongoing efforts to crack down on property-related crimes and recover stolen valuables. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
