An intelligence-led operation in Assam’s Tinsukia district resulted in the apprehension of an alleged active cadre of the NSCN (KYA), with security forces also recovering a firearm and other items.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Assam Rifles, Assam Police and Territorial Army in the Jagun-Lekhapani area on August 8, 2026.

According to the Assam Rifles, the joint team acted on credible intelligence inputs and apprehended one person identified as an active cadre of the NSCN (KYA).
