GUWAHATI: In a move aimed at improving policing and easing the administrative burden on Dispur Police Station, the Assam government has decided to create a separate Kahilipara Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District.

The new police station will initially function from Odalbakra until its permanent infrastructure is ready. Its jurisdiction will cover the Odalbakra and Bhagaduttapur police outposts and several adjoining localities, including areas of Fatasil, Garbhanga, Lokhra, Kerakuchi, Dhopolia and Morabharalu.

As part of the reorganisation, the boundaries of Dispur Police Station have also been revised. Botahghuli, Baghorbori and parts of the Amsing Reserve area will now fall under Dispur Police Station, according to the government order.

The restructuring is expected to help strengthen law enforcement and ensure more effective policing across the rapidly expanding areas of Guwahati.
