GUWAHATI: Several passenger train services have been affected following ongoing railway track restoration work near New Harangajao station, prompting the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to cancel, reschedule and regulate a number of trains.
The disruption has been caused by settlement of the railway tracks in the affected section, where restoration work is currently underway. NFR has issued an updated list of services affected by the operational changes.
Four Trains Cancelled
According to the railway notification, four services have been cancelled:
- Train No. 15617 Guwahati–Dullabcherra Express, scheduled for August 24, 2026.
- Train No. 15618 Dullabcherra–Guwahati Express, scheduled for August 25, 2026.
- Train No. 15615 Guwahati–Silchar Express, scheduled for August 24, 2026.
- Train No. 15616 Silchar–Guwahati Express, scheduled for August 25, 2026.
Departure Timings Changed for Three Services
Three other trains have been rescheduled to depart later than their normal timings on August 24.
Train No. 15650 Narangi–Agartala Express will leave Narangi at 6:30 pm, while Train No. 20501 Agartala–Anand Vihar Terminal Tejas Express has been rescheduled to depart Agartala at 7:00 pm.
Similarly, Train No. 14037 Silchar–New Delhi Poorvottar Sampark Kranti Express will depart from Silchar at 10:10 pm.
Kolkata–Agartala Express Also Regulated
Meanwhile, Train No. 12501 Kolkata–Agartala Express, which began its journey on August 23, 2026, will be regulated during its journey depending on operational requirements.
The railway authorities said the changes are necessary to facilitate restoration work and ensure the safe movement of trains through the affected section.
Passengers travelling on these routes are advised to check the latest train status and official railway announcements before heading to their respective stations.
The inconvenience caused to passengers has been regretted by the Northeast Frontier Railway.
