15 Teachers Selected for Assam State Teachers’ Award 2026

Guwahati: Fifteen educators from different parts of Assam have been selected for the State Teachers’ Award 2026, recognising their dedication to teaching, contribution to students and schools, and service to the education sector.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu congratulated the selected teachers through a post on X, saying the awardees were chosen following a rigorous, merit-based assessment. The evaluation considered their academic commitment, innovative teaching methods, contribution to students and educational institutions, community engagement and exemplary service.

The list includes teachers from Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, Barpeta, Dhubri, Nagaon, Kokrajhar, Golaghat, Hojai, Darrang, Cachar and Karbi Anglong districts.

Among the nine awardees from the secondary education category are Shyamalima Borah, Principal of Malow Ali Higher Secondary School, Jorhat; Bijan Roy Bhowmick, Assistant Teacher at Kamakhya Vidyalay High School, Kamrup Metro; Manab Bharali, Post Graduate Teacher at Govt. Gurdon H.S. School, Nalbari; Riju Kumar Chutia, Post Graduate Teacher at PM Shri Rahmaria Higher Secondary School, Dibrugarh; Probin Koch, Post Graduate Teacher at Tezpur Govt. HS School, Sonitpur; Ranendra Kumar Das, Principal of PM Shri Bhella H.S. School, Barpeta; Azizur Rahman, Post Graduate Teacher at PM Shri Jamadarhat Janata HS School, Dhubri; Manik Chandra Nath, Assistant Teacher at Barapujia Higher Secondary School, Nagaon; and Bibi Prasad Brahma, Assistant Teacher at Harinaguri High School, Kokrajhar.

The six teachers selected under the elementary category are Pulaska Rajkhowa, Head Teacher of Chowkial LP School, Golaghat; Saranga Nirmalia, Head Teacher of Hatikhal Assamese LP School, Lumding, Hojai; Diti Moni Dutta, Assistant Teacher at Phatikachowa Abhoipuria MVS, Dibrugarh; Befula Deka Saikia, Assistant Teacher at No. 182 Gobinda Dham LPS, Darrang; Swastyayan Deb, Assistant Teacher at 57 No. Tikal Par TE LPS, Cachar; and Kamsing Hanse, Headmaster of Bakaliaghat Govt. M.V. School, Karbi Anglong.

The official notice issued by the Office of the Director of Secondary Education, Assam, states that the selection was made on the recommendation of the State Level Selection Committee and following government approval.

The award ceremony will be held on September 5, 2026, coinciding with Teachers’ Day. The selected teachers have been asked to report at Sri Sri Damodardeva International Auditorium, Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari, Guwahati-37, at 9:00 AM to receive the awards.

Pegu extended his congratulations and best wishes to all 15 awardees, noting that their commitment to education continues to inspire students and contribute to strengthening Assam’s education system.
