Guwahati, March 29, 2026 — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday reiterated his government’s commitment to the development of hill areas and indigenous communities, emphasizing the progress achieved over the past five years.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Sarma stated that the hill regions and indigenous people have been among the major beneficiaries of the state’s development and welfare initiatives. He noted that sustained efforts have been made to enhance infrastructure, improve public services, and ensure better ease of living for citizens in these areas.

“Over the last five years, we have worked with focus and dedication to bring meaningful changes in the hill districts,” Sarma wrote, while sharing a throwback reference to Bokajan, Diphu, Howraghat, and Amri.

The remarks come a day after the Chief Minister announced his visit to these constituencies as part of his campaign outreach for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections. In an earlier post, he said he would be “amidst my people” in Bokajan, Diphu, Howraghat, and Amri on March 29 to seek their blessings for the #AssamElections2026.

The visits are part of the “Vijay Sankalpa Sabha” campaign, where the ruling leadership is engaging directly with voters across key constituencies, particularly in the hill districts of Karbi Anglong.

Political observers note that the hill regions will play a crucial role in shaping electoral outcomes, with development, connectivity, and welfare delivery emerging as key campaign themes.

Sarma’s outreach underscores the ruling party’s strategy to consolidate support among indigenous communities by highlighting governance achievements and promising continued focus on regional development.
