Dima Hasao Tops Assam in HSLC 2026 Results with 88.23% Pass Rate

Dima Hasao has secured the top position in Assam in the HSLC 2026 examinations, achieving an impressive pass percentage of 88.23%, according to the Board of Secondary Education, Assam. The hill district outperformed all others, marking a significant academic milestone.

Sivasagar followed in second place with a pass percentage of 84.08%, while Dibrugarh ranked third at 78.46%. The overall pass percentage across the state stood at 65.62%, with 2,81,701 students successfully clearing the examination out of 4,29,249 candidates.

Strong District Performance

Dima Hasao showcased remarkable results at the district level. Out of 3,356 students who appeared for the exams, a large number secured top divisions. As many as 1,553 students achieved first division, 1,288 secured second division, and 120 students passed with third division, reflecting consistent academic performance across schools.

Top Achievers Shine

Among the district’s high performers, Swastika Pal of St Agnes HS School emerged as the topper with 90.33%. She earned letter marks in all subjects and scored an outstanding 99 in Mathematics. Inspired by her father, she expressed her ambition to pursue engineering.

Ruchika Chowdhury, also from St Agnes HS School, secured the second position with 89.67%. She obtained letter marks in every subject and scored 98 in General Mathematics. She aims to study science and build a career in medicine.

Khagsaindi Naiding from Don Bosco HS School ranked third with 87.50%. She achieved letter marks across all subjects and scored 98 in Advanced Mathematics. She plans to continue in the science stream and aspires to become a professor, keeping engineering as an alternative career path.

Recognition and Reactions

Rupali Langthasa, Member of the Autonomous Council (MAC) in charge of Education, described the achievement as a major milestone for the district. She highlighted the steady progress in the education sector and the collective commitment toward academic excellence.

Arujit Kemprai, President of the All Dimasa Students’ Union (ADSU), credited the success to the combined efforts of students, teachers, parents, and the education authorities, along with consistent support from the council.

Education observers believe that Dima Hasao’s rise to the top is the outcome of sustained planning and focused development. Improved policies, better governance, and continuous investment in education have played a key role in transforming the district’s academic landscape.
