Dhubri, June 23: Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police in Assam’s Dhubri district carried out a raid on Monday and arrested seven persons allegedly involved in the illegal slaughter of cattle.

The operation was conducted by a team from Dhubri Police Station at Modergola in Jhagrarpar Part-IV, located behind the railway line within the police station’s jurisdiction. During the raid, officers reportedly found the accused engaged in the illegal slaughter of cattle.

Police seized the carcass of a slaughtered animal, around 90 kilograms of suspected beef, and several tools believed to have been used in the slaughtering process. The seized materials have been taken into custody as part of the investigation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jahan Uddin (50), Rohim Uddin (26), Hatem Ali (50), Marjur Ali (49), Hashem Ali (25), Nurul Islam (36), and Rofiqul Islam (30). All of them are residents of areas falling under the jurisdiction of Dhubri Police Station.

A case has been registered, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused. Police officials said investigators are also probing whether the arrested individuals have links to a larger illegal cattle slaughter network operating in the region.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
