Sivasagar: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu visited Sibsagar University on Saturday and reviewed the institution’s academic and infrastructure development during a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahadev Patgiri and Registrar Dr. Prafulla Chandra Kalita.
During the review, the minister discussed the implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) and postgraduate programmes being offered across the university’s 19 academic departments. He also assessed the overall academic progress of the institution.
Pegu reviewed the construction of a new academic building being developed with a financial grant of ₹10 crore. He also inspected the progress of the hostel project being implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA).
In a post on X following the visit, the minister said it was encouraging to witness the steady progress of the young university. He appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahadev Patgiri, Registrar Dr. Prafulla Chandra Kalita, faculty members and staff for strengthening academic standards and expanding infrastructure to provide better opportunities for students.
The visit formed part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to review the implementation of higher education reforms and infrastructure projects across educational institutions in Assam.
