DHEMAJI, October 1, 2026: Dhemaji celebrated its District Day at the Dhemaji Public Auditorium, bringing together Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Lok Sabha MP Pradan Baruah and MLA Jiban Gogoi. The occasion featured the felicitation of 14 individuals recognised for their contributions to entrepreneurship, sports, social service and other sectors.
During the celebration, Dr. Ranoj Pegu highlighted the district’s journey since its formation in 1989, pointing to developments in road connectivity, bridges, education, healthcare, sports and agriculture. He noted that infrastructure such as educational institutions, a medical college and hospital, a sports stadium and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute has expanded opportunities for the district’s residents.
The minister also stressed the need for continued cooperation between the government and local communities to accelerate development. He called for collective efforts to address recurring floods and build a more resilient, progressive and self-reliant Dhemaji.
The celebration served as an opportunity to recognise local achievers and renew the commitment to the district’s future development.
