KOHIMA, October 1, 2026: Assam Rifles has taken another step towards encouraging grassroots sports and youth participation in Nagaland by distributing sports equipment to the Pfuchama Youth Organisation in Kohima on September 30.
According to an update shared on the force’s official social media account, the distribution programme provided local youth and village teams with footballs, volleyballs, shot put equipment, badminton sets and other sporting materials. The initiative aims to support sporting activities and encourage young people to develop their physical abilities through organised games.
The programme also featured a friendly volleyball match between local youth and Assam Rifles personnel. The sporting event provided an opportunity for interaction between the two groups while promoting teamwork, fitness, mutual understanding and sportsmanship.
Through such community-focused initiatives, Assam Rifles continues to engage with young people in the Northeast and encourage participation in constructive activities. The distribution of sports equipment is expected to help local teams access essential gear and create more opportunities for young people to take part in sports.
The initiative reflects the importance of grassroots sporting activities in building community connections and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle among the region’s youth.
