Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials from multiple departments to assess the availability of essential commodities and monitor the progress of key infrastructure projects across the state.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department to maintain strict vigilance over market prices and ensure that essential goods remain affordable for the public. He warned that the government would take stringent action against hoarding, black marketing, and any attempts to create artificial shortages in the market.

Sarma also stressed the importance of uninterrupted availability of LPG cylinders and petroleum products across Assam. He instructed officials to remain in regular coordination with oil and gas companies to prevent supply disruptions and ensure smooth distribution throughout the state. At the same time, he appealed to the public not to engage in panic buying, assuring that the government was closely monitoring the situation.

The Chief Minister further reviewed several ongoing infrastructure projects with officials from the Public Works Department. He asked departments to accelerate construction work while maintaining quality standards, stating that timely completion of projects was crucial for the state’s overall development.

Highlighting the long-term benefits of major projects such as new stadia, convention centres, and other public infrastructure initiatives, Sarma said these developments would play a significant role in transforming Assam’s future. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening and modernising infrastructure to support economic growth and improve public services across the state.
