Guwahati: The Assam government has released the salaries of teachers appointed through special recruitment procedures, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said following a meeting with leaders of the Assam State Primary Teachers’ Association at Janata Bhawan.
During the meeting, Pegu discussed issues concerning salary payments and informed the teachers’ organisation that the government had already cleared the salaries of teachers who were earlier engaged on a contractual basis and have since been regularised.
The minister also clarified that teachers appointed through the special recruitment process will continue to receive their salaries regularly through the state treasury system in the coming days. He specifically stated that their salary payments will not be routed through the SNA-SPARSH system.
Pegu further said that salaries of contractual teachers working under the Samagra Shiksha programme had also been released on the same day.
The minister urged representatives of the teachers’ organisation not to rely on rumours regarding salary-related matters and instead engage in discussions with the government to resolve concerns affecting teachers.
The meeting focused primarily on ensuring clarity over salary disbursement and addressing issues related to different categories of teachers working under the state’s education system.
Pegu’s clarification is expected to provide reassurance to teachers who had raised concerns over the regularity and mechanism of their salary payments.
