Sribhumi: Assam Police seized a massive consignment valued at approximately ₹10.8 crore during an overnight operation in Sribhumi district, dealing a major blow to illegal trafficking activities in the state. The operation was carried out by the Sribhumi Police, leading to the arrest of one individual, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused involved in the case.

Announcing the development through a post on X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the successful operation conducted by the district police. He remarked that “₹10.8 crore is a heavy price to pay for crossing paths with Assam Police,” while congratulating the Sribhumi Police for intercepting the high-value consignment during the overnight crackdown.

According to the Chief Minister, one suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the seizure. However, the identities of the arrested individual and the absconding accused have not yet been disclosed. Police teams have launched an extensive search operation to trace and apprehend the remaining persons linked to the case.

While authorities have not officially revealed the nature of the seized consignment, the operation is being viewed as another significant success in Assam Police’s ongoing campaign against organised crime, smuggling and illegal trafficking networks operating across the state.

The latest seizure underscores the state government’s continued focus on strengthening law enforcement and intensifying action against criminal syndicates. Further details regarding the investigation and the seized consignment are expected to be released by the police after the completion of preliminary inquiries.
