New Delhi: The Haj Committee of India (HCoI) has officially commenced the application process for Haj 2027 (1448 Hijri), inviting eligible Muslim pilgrims across the country to submit their applications through the official Haj portal and the Haj Suvidha mobile application. The online registration window opened on June 22 and will remain open until July 20, 2026.
According to the Haj Committee, the provisional selection of pilgrims will be carried out through a Qurrah (Digital Random Selection) scheduled for the last week of July. Pilgrims selected through the process will be required to deposit an advance amount of ₹1,52,300 on or before August 10, 2026. Officials have made it clear that no extension of the payment deadline will be granted under any circumstances.
The Joint State Haj Committee for Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland has advised applicants to carefully read the Haj 2027 Guidelines and Undertakings before submitting their applications. Applicants must possess a machine-readable Indian passport valid until at least December 31, 2027. Other mandatory documents include a recent passport-sized photograph, a bank passbook or cancelled cheque and valid proof of address, all of which must be uploaded in the prescribed digital format.
The Committee has cautioned intending pilgrims against cancelling allotted Haj seats after selection, stating that substantial penalties will be imposed in accordance with the Haj 2027 guidelines. Authorities have urged applicants to register only after confirming their readiness and commitment to undertake the pilgrimage.
Under the eligibility criteria, applicants must hold a valid machine-readable Indian passport issued on or before the closing date of applications. Individuals who have previously performed Haj through the Haj Committee of India are generally not eligible, except those applying as a Mehram for a female pilgrim or as a companion for elderly pilgrims aged 65 years and above.
The guidelines also specify several medical conditions that render applicants ineligible for the pilgrimage. These include major organ failure, severe neurological or psychiatric disorders, dementia, high-risk pregnancies, active infectious diseases, and cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment.
Women aged 45 years and above without a Sharia Mehram may apply under the Lady Without Mehram (LWM) category in groups of four or more, subject to the regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and applicable religious guidelines. Children below 15 years of age, persons prohibited from travelling abroad by court order, and applicants below 18 years without parental or guardian consent are also not eligible.
The Haj Committee of India has urged all intending pilgrims to complete the application process well before the deadline and ensure that all information furnished is accurate. Officials warned that submission of false information could result in disqualification, forfeiture of deposited amounts and legal action. With the announcement, preparations for Haj 2027 have formally begun, marking the first phase of arrangements for one of the world’s largest annual religious pilgrimages.
