Guwahati: In a crackdown on property-related crime, the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) arrested two youths and recovered several items suspected to have been stolen during an operation conducted by Basistha Police Station.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Safiyal Ali alias Hab (21) of Sawkuchi and Rupchand Ali alias Raja (21) of Dakhingaon.
According to Guwahati Police, officers recovered an iron spade head, a screwdriver, a wrench, a stainless steel knife, an iron cutting machine and a bundle of copper electric wire believed to be linked to theft cases. The recovered articles have been seized as part of the investigation.
Police said legal action has been initiated against the two accused, while further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the recovered property and determine whether the suspects were involved in other theft-related offences.
The arrests were disclosed by Guwahati Police in a post on X, highlighting the department’s continued efforts to curb theft and strengthen law enforcement across the city.
