Guwahati Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Four Accused After Swift Operation in Darrang

Guwahati, May 28: In a major breakthrough, the Guwahati Police successfully rescued a kidnapping victim and arrested four alleged kidnappers following a swift operation carried out in Assam’s Darrang district.

According to a post shared by the official X handle of Guwahati Police, the operation was conducted by a team from Hatigaon Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD). The police launched immediate action after receiving a complaint regarding the kidnapping of an individual and a ransom demand of ₹5 lakh.

Officials said the accused had allegedly abducted the victim and demanded money for his release. Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs, the police team tracked the movement of the suspects and launched a pursuit operation in the Sipajhar area of Darrang district.

During the operation, the police intercepted a Swift Dzire bearing registration number AS01BD-7724. The kidnapped individual was rescued safely from the vehicle after continuous tracking and pursuit by the police team.

Following the rescue, four persons allegedly involved in the kidnapping-for-ransom case were apprehended by the police. The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Abu Salam (31), a resident of Sipajhar
  • Asatulla Ali (35), a resident of Mangaldoi
  • Rozamil Ali (28), a resident of Sipajhar
  • Dalnur Hussain (41), a resident of Mangaldoi

Police officials stated that legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused in connection with the case.

The successful rescue operation has been praised as a prompt and coordinated effort by the Guwahati Police, highlighting the department’s rapid response capabilities in serious criminal cases.

Further investigation is currently underway to determine whether more individuals were involved in the kidnapping conspiracy and to gather additional evidence related to the case.
