Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a strong message on public conduct and serious offences, distinguishing between minor mistakes that may be forgiven and activities he says the state will never tolerate. In a post on X, the Chief Minister highlighted issues ranging from everyday civic violations to crimes against women, land encroachment and child marriage.
Sarma listed genuine parking mistakes, minor public nuisance and plausible traffic violations among the actions Assam may forgive. On the other hand, he categorised crimes against women, encroachment of land, illegal infiltration, what he described as “Love Jihad”, child marriage and heinous crimes as acts that Assam will never forgive. The message sets out his position on public accountability, women’s safety, land rights and social issues that continue to feature in political and public discourse in the state.
The Chief Minister’s statement draws a clear distinction between routine public inconveniences and serious offences, underscoring the importance he places on maintaining public order and addressing issues he considers significant for Assam. The post also brings together concerns relating to personal safety, land protection and the welfare of children, reflecting the themes emphasised in his message.
