The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved a major milestone in food safety and hygiene standards, with 10 railway stations and a divisional canteen under its Lumding Division receiving the prestigious “Eat Right Station” certification from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
According to an official statement, the certification will remain valid from March 30, 2026, to March 29, 2028. The recognition was granted after detailed inspections and audits conducted by FSSAI officials, focusing on cleanliness, food quality, hygiene practices, catering services, and food stall management at the stations.
The stations that earned the certification are Silchar, Karimganj, New Haflong, Diphu, Lumding, Lanka, Chaparmukh, Jagiroad, and Sarupathar. The Divisional Railway Manager’s office canteen at Lumding was also included in the list of certified facilities.
The certification has been awarded under FSSAI’s nationwide “Eat Right India” campaign, which promotes safe, healthy, and hygienic food practices across public places and institutions. The initiative aims to improve the overall food experience for passengers travelling through railway stations.
Railway officials stated that the achievement reflects the continuous efforts of the Lumding Division to maintain high standards of sanitation and food safety for commuters and staff alike.
