New Delhi | July 22: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said the Centre remains willing to hold a comprehensive discussion on the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in Parliament, while accusing the Congress of opting for protests instead of participating in parliamentary debate.
In a statement posted on his official X account, Pradhan alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party members staged a demonstration outside the Prime Minister’s residence during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. He claimed the protest caused inconvenience to the public and did not adhere to established security protocols.
The Education Minister maintained that the government had already expressed its readiness to discuss the NEET issue in detail in Parliament. However, he alleged that the opposition was more focused on political demonstrations than engaging in constructive discussions on matters affecting students.
Pradhan further accused the Congress of using students’ concerns as a political issue rather than working towards meaningful solutions. According to him, the government’s objective is to address the concerns surrounding NEET through democratic debate and parliamentary proceedings.
Reaffirming the Centre’s stand, Pradhan said the government remains fully committed to discussing the examination and responding to issues raised by students. He added that students deserve certainty, accountability and solution-oriented governance instead of political disruption.
His remarks come amid continuing protests by opposition parties over the NEET issue during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with the examination remaining one of the major issues raised in the current session.
