Guwahati: The Pune Institute of Business Management (PIBM) has opened a new campus in Guwahati, expanding its management education presence to Assam and the wider Northeast. The campus, located at Khanapara, was inaugurated by Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu.
The inauguration marks PIBM’s entry into the Northeast with its management education programmes, with the institute set to begin its first MBA batch at the Guwahati campus this year.
According to Dr. Ranoj Pegu, nearly 75 students have enrolled in the first year of the MBA programme. The new campus is expected to provide students from Assam and neighbouring northeastern states with increased access to management education that combines academic learning with industry exposure.
PIBM is a NAAC ‘A’ accredited institution and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute has focused on industry-oriented management education, with an emphasis on preparing students for the requirements of the corporate and business sectors.
The launch of the Guwahati campus comes at a time when demand for professional and industry-linked higher education is growing across the Northeast. The presence of a management institute such as PIBM in the region is expected to create additional opportunities for students seeking careers in areas including business administration, marketing, finance and other management disciplines.
The new campus is also expected to serve as a centre for students beyond Assam, potentially making Guwahati a more accessible destination for management education for learners from across the Northeast.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Ranoj Pegu extended his wishes to the institution, faculty members and students for their new academic journey. He expressed hope that PIBM’s presence would contribute to strengthening the quality of management education in Assam as well as across the Northeast.
With its first MBA batch scheduled to begin this year, the Guwahati campus represents a new phase in PIBM’s expansion and adds another institution to Assam’s growing higher education landscape.
