Guwahati, August 1: Ongoing restoration work on the Lumding–Badarpur Hill Section has prompted the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) to cancel and reschedule several passenger train services after track settlement was reported near New Harangajao station.
According to the railway authorities, Line-1 and Line-2 were affected due to ground settlement in the area, while train operations are currently being managed through Line-3 under strict safety supervision. Engineering teams are working continuously to restore the damaged tracks and ensure the safe movement of trains.
As a result of the repair work, NFR has cancelled the Guwahati–Silchar Express, Silchar–Guwahati Express, Guwahati–Dullabcherra Express, and Dullabcherra–Guwahati Express scheduled to operate on August 1 and 2.
Several other services have also been rescheduled to minimise disruption. These include trains running on the Narangi–Agartala, Agartala–Narangi, Guwahati–Sairang, Sairang–Guwahati, Agartala–Deoghar, Rangiya–Silchar, and Silchar–Rangiya routes.
Meanwhile, Train No. 01665 Rani Kamlapati–Agartala Special, which departed on July 30, is being regulated during its journey due to the ongoing maintenance work and may experience delays before reaching its destination.
NFR said restoration operations are progressing on priority, with technical teams monitoring the situation round the clock. The railway has assured passengers that every effort is being made to restore normal services at the earliest while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Passengers travelling on the affected routes have been advised to verify the latest train status before leaving for their journey, as operational changes may continue until the repair work is completed.
