Guwahati, July 23: Continuing its drive against illegal narcotics, Guwahati Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers during a raid conducted at a hideout in the Khanapara area and seized 45.15 grams of suspected heroin along with other incriminating materials.
According to a statement shared by Guwahati Police on X, the operation was carried out by a team from Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD). The two accused have been identified as Partha Pratim Medhi (29) and Hasina Begum (26).
During the raid, police recovered six tobacco containers filled with suspected heroin weighing 45.15 grams, 25 empty vials, one mobile phone, and a scooty (Registration No. AS28F8483) believed to have been used in connection with the alleged illegal activity.
The accused were taken into custody, and the seized items have been confiscated as evidence. Police said legal action has been initiated under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, while further investigation is underway.
Investigators are expected to examine the recovered mobile phone and verify whether the accused had links to a larger narcotics distribution network operating in and around Guwahati.
The latest seizure is part of Guwahati Police’s ongoing anti-drug campaign aimed at curbing the trafficking and sale of narcotic substances across the city. Authorities have continued to carry out intelligence-based operations targeting individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
