Veteran playback legend Asha Bhosle has been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest on Saturday, according to her family.
Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, confirmed that the 92-year-old singer is currently under medical care. In a statement shared on social media, she revealed that Bhosle had been dealing with severe fatigue along with a chest infection prior to the incident. She also requested privacy for the family during this period, adding that treatment is ongoing and updates will be shared in due course.
Expressing concern, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes for her recovery. In a message, he said he was deeply worried about her health and prayed for her speedy return to good health.
Asha Bhosle remains one of India’s most celebrated voices, known for her extraordinary range and adaptability across musical styles. Over a career spanning decades, she has recorded thousands of songs, including film tracks, ghazals, and pop numbers, leaving a lasting imprint on Indian music.
In recognition of her immense contribution, she has received several prestigious honours, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan.
