Assam Rifles Seize Heroin Worth ₹2.97 Crore in Mizoram, Four Arrested

A major drug trafficking attempt was foiled in Mizoram after the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Excise and Narcotics Department, recovered heroin worth nearly ₹2.97 crore during a joint operation in Aizawl.

According to a post shared by The Assam Rifles on X, the operation was carried out on May 1, 2026, at Ramthar North area in Aizawl district.

During the operation, security personnel recovered 397 grams of Heroin No-4 from the possession of the accused. Officials said the seized narcotics are estimated to be worth approximately ₹2.97 crore in the international market.

The joint team also apprehended four individuals in connection with the case. The identities of the accused were not disclosed immediately.

The recovered contraband and the arrested individuals have been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department for further investigation and necessary legal action.

Assam Rifles stated that the successful operation dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating in the region.
