Agartala: Indian Railways has upgraded the Rani Kamalapati–Agartala Special Express with modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, marking another step in its ongoing efforts to enhance passenger safety, comfort and overall travel experience.

According to a press release, Train No. 01665, operating from Rani Kamalapati, began running with the LHB rake from July 9. The return service, Train No. 01666 from Agartala, is scheduled to operate with the upgraded coaches from July 12.

The newly deployed 22-coach LHB rake is equipped with several advanced features, including an anti-telescopic design that enhances passenger safety during collisions, improved suspension for a smoother ride, higher-speed capability and upgraded interiors designed to provide a more comfortable journey.

The replacement of conventional Integral Coach Factory (ICF) coaches with LHB coaches forms part of Indian Railways’ broader initiative to modernise its passenger services by adopting advanced technology and improving onboard amenities. The upgraded coaches are expected to offer passengers a safer, more reliable and comfortable travel experience.

According to the press release, the introduction of LHB coaches reflects Indian Railways’ continued focus on strengthening passenger-centric infrastructure while gradually expanding the use of modern rolling stock across its network.
