Agartala, July 20: Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar was found dead inside his office chamber at the State Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Agartala on Monday. Preliminary findings suggest that the senior IPS officer may have died by suicide, although officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of death.
According to initial reports, Dhankar was discovered inside his office and was immediately taken to Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The incident prompted senior police officials and forensic experts to rush to the Police Headquarters, where the area was sealed for examination. Authorities have initiated an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination is completed. No official statement has been issued by the Tripura Police regarding the incident so far.
