Two Alleged Drug Peddlers Held in Guwahati, Heroin and Suspected Stolen Items Seized

Guwahati: A police operation at Lokhra Forest Gate in Guwahati has led to the apprehension of two alleged drug peddlers, with suspected heroin, electronic devices and several other items seized during the raid, according to Guwahati Police.

The operation was carried out by a team from Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD), which raided a suspected hideout in the Lokhra Forest Gate area.

Police identified the two apprehended women as Jaitun Nesa, 35, a resident of Kayakuchi, and Yajan Begum, 40, from Morigaon.

According to the official statement issued by Guwahati Police, the team recovered 11 cans containing suspected heroin weighing 85.21 grams.

Apart from the suspected narcotics, police also seized 200 empty vials, which are commonly used for storing or packaging small quantities of substances.

The raid further resulted in the recovery of 12 mobile phones, a tablet and a laptop with its charger, which police described as stolen items. Other articles seized included a vehicle media box, three vehicle batteries along with cables, and ₹3,100 in cash.

Guwahati Police said legal action has been initiated in connection with the case. Further investigation is expected to determine the source and intended distribution of the suspected narcotics, as well as the circumstances surrounding the electronic devices and other items recovered during the operation.
