Shillong, March 29: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday announced a major package of welfare initiatives worth ₹129.81 crore to mark the eighth anniversary of the MDA Government. The announcement was made during a public programme held at Polo Grounds.
Highlighting the government’s development agenda, Sangma said the funds would support key sectors such as agriculture, rural infrastructure, environment, and grassroots entrepreneurship.
Under the CM Elevate scheme, 34 warehouses and four Common Facility Centres (CFCs) were inaugurated with an investment of ₹18.47 crore, aimed at strengthening storage and value-chain infrastructure.
Several other major allocations include:
- ₹6.04 crore under FOCUS+, a scheme focused on farmer welfare
- ₹25.54 crore under Green Meghalaya+, supporting environmental conservation efforts by individuals and communities
- ₹27 crore for LIFCOM, providing working capital to grassroots enterprises and farmer collectives
- ₹30 crore under MegLIFE, promoting plantation and ecological restoration activities in villages
- ₹22 crore for floriculture development, expected to benefit over 3,000 farmers, with subsidies of over ₹7 lakh for eligible beneficiaries
Additionally, 128 Community Halls were inaugurated across the state. These projects were jointly funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund.
The Chief Minister said the initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and empowering local communities. He also thanked the people of Meghalaya for their continued trust and support towards the MDA Government.
