According to the latest estimates, the state produced 55.41 million kg of tea during the month, marking an increase of 13.92 million kg compared to April 2025.

Data shows that small tea growers contributed the larger share of production, accounting for 30.12 million kg, while large tea estates produced 25.29 million kg during April this year.

In comparison, Assam’s tea output in April 2025 stood at 41.49 million kg. Of that total, large growers produced 21.58 million kg, while small tea growers contributed 19.91 million kg.

Figures released by the Tea Board indicate that India’s total tea production reached 104.28 million kg in April 2026. CTC tea dominated the output with 91.57 million kg, followed by 11.17 million kg of Orthodox tea and 1.54 million kg of Green tea.

During the first four months of 2026, from January to April, India’s overall tea production touched 201.89 million kg. Assam remained a major contributor to the national output, producing 73.80 million kg during the same period.
