Guwahati: In view of the growing demand for long-distance rail travel, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to continue operating the Katihar–Amritsar Special Train for five more round trips, offering additional travel options for passengers on the route.

The extension covers Train No. 05736, which will run from Katihar to Amritsar every Wednesday from August 5 to September 2, departing at 9:00 pm. The return service, Train No. 05735, will depart Amritsar every Friday from August 7 to September 4 at 1:25 pm.

Railway officials said the move is intended to accommodate increased passenger demand while reducing pressure on regular train services operating on the route.

According to the Northeast Frontier Railway, there will be no changes to the train’s existing schedule, stoppages, coach composition or maintenance plan during the extended period, allowing passengers to continue travelling under the same operating arrangements.

Travellers have been urged to confirm the latest schedule and halt details before starting their journey. Updated information is available through the IRCTC website and mobile app, the National Train Enquiry System (NTES), and the official social media channels of the Northeast Frontier Railway.

The extension is expected to provide much-needed relief to passengers during the busy travel season by improving seat availability on one of the region’s important long-distance rail connections.
