Guwahati: International travel from Northeast India has received a fresh boost with IndiGo introducing a non-stop flight service between Guwahati and Bangkok, offering passengers a more convenient connection to Thailand and other destinations in Southeast Asia.

The new route was inaugurated on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati, operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited. The service marks IndiGo’s entry into international operations from Guwahati and is expected to support tourism, business travel and cultural exchanges between the two regions.

The inaugural Guwahati-Bangkok flight, 6E 1085, departed at 6:15 pm, with its scheduled arrival in the Thai capital at 10:45 pm local time. The corresponding Bangkok-Guwahati flight, 6E 1086, was scheduled to depart at 8:50 am and reach Guwahati at 10:25 am.

IndiGo will begin regular operations on the route from October 31, with flights scheduled every Wednesday and Saturday in both directions.

The direct connection is expected to benefit travellers from Assam and neighbouring northeastern states by reducing their dependence on connecting flights through other major Indian airports. It could also encourage international visitors to explore the region’s tourist attractions and create additional opportunities for trade and tourism-related businesses.

With Bangkok added to its network, Guwahati airport now offers connectivity to five international and 24 domestic destinations, according to airport authorities.

The expansion comes as LGBIA continues to strengthen its position as a major aviation gateway to Northeast India. The airport’s newly developed Terminal 2, featuring architectural inspiration from bamboo, has also received international recognition through its inclusion in the Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026.

The Guwahati-Bangkok service is expected to further improve international accessibility and contribute to closer economic, tourism and cultural relations between Northeast India and Thailand.
