Imphal, May 25: In a major crackdown on insurgent activities, Assam Rifles, in close coordination with Manipur Police and other security agencies, conducted a series of successful operations across multiple districts of Manipur between May 17 and 22, 2026.
According to an official statement, the joint operations were carried out in Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Tengnoupal and Churachandpur districts, leading to the apprehension of several active cadres associated with proscribed insurgent outfits including KYKL, UNLF(K), PLA and KCP-T.
During the operations, security forces recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition and explosives. The seized items included an AK-47 rifle, SLR rifle, SMG carbine, pistols, grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ammunition, radio sets and other war-like stores.
Officials stated that all apprehended individuals along with the recovered items were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings.
The operations highlight the continued efforts and commitment of Assam Rifles towards maintaining peace, security and stability in the region amid ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities in Manipur.
